Australia’s Queen of Musical Theatre, Caroline O’Connor is a highly revered dancer, actor and singer. She was awarded an AM (Order of Australia) in 2020 for her extraordinary service to Theatre.

Caroline is a multi-award-winning entertainer and performer who has worked on three continents during her illustrious musical theatre career. When asked about Caroline, Baz Luhrmann said she is a “Gift from the Heavens”

She appeared on Broadway in the musical Anastasia at the Broadhurst Theatre, creating the role of Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch (Drama League Nomination, Outer Critics Circle Nomination). She also created the role of Miss Shields in A Christmas Story the Musical at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre and Madison Square Garden. Caroline was a featured performer at the 2013 Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, New York.

She created the dual roles of Polly/Mary Douvan in the world premiere of the Australian musical Dreamlover. She played Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes (Sydney Opera House/Helpmann Award), Rose in Gypsy for the Production Company in Melbourne and the Curve Theatre, Leicester.

Caroline played Judy Garland in the World Premiere of End Of The Rainbow. Bombshells, a one-woman play, was commissioned by Simon Phillips (MTC) and written for Caroline by Joanna Murray-Smith. Caroline’s astonishing performance won her critical acclaim all over the world, including a Green Room Award, Fringe First Award, Laurence Olivier nomination, and a London Theatregoers Award.

She performed in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in John Wilson’s Hooray for Hollywood and in Stephen Sondheim’s 80th Birthday Concert. Caroline has created three one-woman shows: Stage to Screen in Australia, The Showgirl Within in London and The Girl from Oz in New York. She has made numerous television appearances and concert performances, including two Royal Variety Performances for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Diana, Princess of Wales. Caroline’s film credits include De-Lovely, Surviving Georgia, and her show-stealing performance as Nini Legs In The Air in Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge.

Caroline has recorded three solo CDs: What I did for Love and Stage to Screen, both recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and A Tribute to Piaf and A Tribute to Garland produced in Australia.
